The relations between Ukraine and NATO have not changed during the last period.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Defense Minister of Ukraine Anatoliy Hrytsenko said this to journalists today, commenting on the recent statement of NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who said that Ukraine will not be invited to talks on joining NATO at the Riga summit in November of the current year.
“Nothing has changed in our relations – of Ukraine and NATO – during this period”, A.Hrytsenko said.
He stressed that nobody raised the question that the Riga NAO Summit will consider Ukraine’s joining the Alliance. “Neither the Ukrainian side, nor NATO, raised this question”, he said. The Minister noted that the matter concerned Ukraine’s involving in the Plan on Membership in the alliance. According to the Minister, only upon involving Ukraine in this plan, the issue of Ukraine’s joining NATO may be raised.
