Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine chairman Oleksander Moroz shares the stance of Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych about appointing an acting Foreign Minister at a parliament session.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the speaker disclosed this to journalists today, commenting on the yesterday critical statements of Victor Yanukovych about Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk.

He stressed that the statements of Victor Yanukovych are “adequate” as Borys Tarasyuk, being on vacation, paid visit to the Czech Republic and met with the Czech Prime Minister. He is convinced that the situation with the Foreign Minister is absurd and undermines the country’s authority. “This kind of resistance does not bring anything except of political speculations and undermines the authority and the international arena”, he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on 1 December, the parliament sacked Borys Tarasyuk from the post of the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

B.Tarasyuk turned to the Shevchenkivskiy district court of Kyiv with a suit against the Verkhovna Rada, demanding to nullify and declare illegal the decree on his dismissal.

On 5 December the court allowed B.Tarasyuk’s suit, and restored him on the post.

However, on 4 January 2006, the Appeal Court of Kyiv allowed the appeal of a Verkhovna Rada representative and declared legal the VR decree on Tarasyuk’s dismissal.

On 10 January the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry distributed a commentary, which read that, despite the ruling of the Appeal Court of Kyiv, B.Tarasyuk still occupies the post of the Foreign Minister.
